Predicting ARDS will improve the survival rate of ADULT ICU patients
ARDS is one of the leading causes of admission to the intensive care unit. Although it has a 30%-50% mortality rate, it is still critically misdiagnosed and underdiagnosed on a global scale. Because ARDS treatment options have limited efficacy, there is a critical need to identify at-risk patients for early prevention strategies. The opportunity for preventing ARDS onset is constrained to a narrow window, with onset on average 2 days after hospital admission.
ARDS is one of the most fatal complications of COVID-19. Predicitng ARDS could enable early interventions in COVID-19 patients.
